We’re obviously biased at Casa de Bahamas and think that we have one of the best Long Island vacation spots – not only on the island, but in the entirety of the Bahamas itself. We simply love it here for our unrivaled location, stunning facilities and second to none beach with its own coral reef.

Dean’s Blue Hole

However, it would be remiss of us not to mention some other lovely Long island vacation spots available that are worth a trip to when staying with us. For starters, we have some of the best caves in the Bahamas which can make for some great days out – either by boat or by snorkeling or scuba diving. Of particular note is Dean’s Blue Hole which is one of the largest and deepest sinkholes on the planet.

Cape Santa Maria

If that sounds a bit too white knuckle for you, Cape Santa Maria is an easy day trip from Casa De Bahamas. It is a hotel resort with one of the best beaches on the island – after our own! The restaurant here serves delicious food with a heavy emphasis on fresh fish that has been caught that day. Plus, if you want to watch the sunset from somewhere different than our own porch, Cape Santa Maria is an idyllic spot to do so and the cocktails served here are some of the nicest we’ve tried.

Salt Pond Beach

The other beach that we are a big fan of is Salt Pond Beach which is a great destination for all types of people with all types of interests. While little children can paddle and swim in the calmer waters at one end of the cove, or even partake in a little spot of beachcombing for crabs, it is possible for adrenaline junkies to get their thrills at the other end of the cove with a little bit of bodyboarding or even surfing at times if the tides are right. Whilst here, it’s worth a drive to Deadman’s Cay caves which are very close by. Intrepid explorers, young and old, will enjoy walking through this natural wonder.

Long Island Eco Tour

It’s also fun to go on an eco tour of the island as there really are some fantastic hikes to be had here as well as marine life to be unearthed. A big favorite with both locals and tourists alike are the flamingos on the southern end of the island which has become one of the many much loved Long Island vacation spots. If out and about trying to explore the history of the island during a day excursion from Casa de Bahamas, it is worth going to see Long Island Museum where you will learn so much about your home island.

The problem is, Casa De Bahamas is difficult to leave. It is simply one of the best Long Island vacation spots thanks to its own pristine white sandy beach right outside the back door and its clear, turquoise blue waters. Watching the sunset here is hard to beat thanks to the Western vantage point of the house so it’s possible to have the most relaxing of sun-downers right from your own Bahamian getaway rental.
