Best Places In Bahamas

The Bahamas are made up of over 700 islands and cays over a vast area of the Atlantic, close to the Caribbean sea. Without doubt, the thing it is best known for is its beaches. This is not surprising given their picture perfect white sand which is pristine, along with the clear blue turquoise sea. But the beaches are not the only things that top the best places in Bahamas, there is plenty more to do and see here.

We have therefore compiled our choices for the best places in Bahamas, though it is not an exhaustive list either!

Long Island

Whilst we are obviously a bit biased, we think that Long Island is definitely one of the best places in Bahamas and worth a visit in itself, even for those that aren’t even staying at Casa De Bahamas. It’s just 45 minutes away from Nassau by plane and manages to offer so many of the best bits of the Bahamas. Its waters are clear with fantastic visibility for the divers amongst us, while above sea level, its beaches are some of the most beautiful the area has. Along with some fantastic restaurants, it really is hard to beat when looking for a holiday destination.

Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park

With some of the best visibility in the world, no trip to the Bahamas is complete without putting at least a toe in its waters. For those that like to be fully submerged, Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is conveniently located on the island next to Casa De Bahamas and easily one of the best places in Bahamas for snorkeling and diving. Tourists love the swimming pigs that can be seen here but even without them, the abundance of sea life is hard not to be entranced by.

Pink Sand Beach, Harbor Island

While a little further afield from Casa De Bahamas, Pink Sand Beach is a sight to behold which is why it made it on to our best places in Bahamas list with ease. The sand is a stunning pale pink color which is thought to have come from a type of insect that lives on the coral reefs around Harbor Island. Science aside, it makes for a truly amazing vista, plus the swimming here is very safe thanks to a calm tide as well as wide sand banks that make paddling easy even for toddlers.

Dean’s Blue Hole

Another of Long Island’s great attractions is Dean’s Blue Hole. It is a huge salt water swimming pool that is a true natural wonder. The white sands that encompass the clean blue sea drops off to an impressive 663 feet making the attraction popular with divers. If diving down that deep is not your thing, it’s worth a visit nonetheless. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby that afford a stunning view of one of the best places in Bahamas and Long Island itself.

Nassau

While Nassau may have huge swathes of tourists thanks to the airport, huge hotels and cruise liners located there, it should never be overlooked as somewhere worth a visit on a trip to the Bahamas. In fact, it arguably is one of the best places in Bahamas thanks to the wealth of things to do and see here. For example, it is home to the world famous Straw Market, Fort Fincastle as well as Fort Charlotte or, if you have kids with you, the Pirates of Nassau Museum. While educational, this museum is so interesting it is an easy way to lure kids away from the beach and sea.
